The Indaba Story

Indaba is the engine that fueled the success of textbook reseller Better World Books – simultaneously vaulting the social venture company into: Amazon's Top 50 and eBay's Top 500.

The application created for Better World Books masters the most difficult task in the online selling industry: selling inventory across multiple marketplaces. What is more, it does so with highly automated functionality that minimizes repetitive customer service tasks and acts as a flexible inventory management and pricing tool.

Having built the most comprehensive and automated marketplace management system available, Better World Books decided to license this software to a newly created company, Indaba Systems, for release as a commercial application. Founded by the team of developers who built the software, along with a number of Better World Books veterans, Indaba launched in August 2005.

In February 2006, Indaba reverted to advanced beta status, to focus on stability for existing clients. Indaba is not actively pursuing new clients, we are selectively adding new users that we believe will benefit greatly from using the software.

The word indaba is Zulu for "gathering to do business." And doing business is what Indaba is about. Over 12 years of effort went into designing and developing the 'perfect' merchant system - one that uses minimal labor resources for maximium marketplace coverage.
